throw a reggie

A temper tantrum or a 'wobbly': Young Wally threw a reggie (or reggy?) the other day and broke my best ornament. To my knowledge, this phrase has been used in southern Tasmania at least for the past 40 years. I have been told a possible derivation of the term but I am a bit sceptical about that aspect.

Contributor's comments: We certainly used this at school in Hobart in the 1970's and early 1980's.

Contributor's comments: Also "chuck a reggie" in Hobart.
