Killiecrankie diamond

gem stone found near Killiecrankie, Flinders Island, Bass Strait: Have you found any Killiecrankie diamonds lately?
Contributor's comments: well known by Flinders Islanders; heard only in Tasmania; known to most gem stone hobbyists; possibly clear Topaz.

Contributor's comments: I heard the term Killiecrankie Diamond in 1965-66 when I was doing zoological field work on Flinders Island. The stones are topaz, mostly clear but some are blue. The topaz are found in old open cut tin mines at Killiecrankie on the NW of Flinders I. I was given a large blue topaz by a local and had it cut and set into a ring. I've never heard the term anywhere else and wonder if many Tasmanians even know it.
