Contributor's comments: "Refec" is actually short for "refectory" and I only ever used this term at our University of Queensland canteens - I am curious to know where else it may be used.

Contributor's comments: As a resident of SA from 1956-1968, and a student at Adelaide Uni, I can back up the use of "Refec" at uni, but have not encountered its use at any of the schools for what was referred to as the "Tuck shop"
