(possibly also nelly bin) It is a rectangular plastic bin with a lid that was originally intended to store and ice fish. It now has all sorts of uses; I believe the word derives from the original(?) makers of the bins, Nally: My dive gear is in the nellie bin.
Contributor's comments: I have only ever heard these plastic bins called 'Nally bins', a reference to the manufacturer, as you note.
