Contributor's comments: To cheat at marbles by quickly jerking your hand over the firing line. ie the marble is fired from the extended hand so as to be as close to the target as possible and at increased spead. 50 plus recalls his playing days 40 to 45 years ago: "Don't play marbles with him, he's a fannanywacker."

Contributor's comments: We used it in the late 1940s and 1950s at Ashburton State School (Melbourne Vic) and Malvern Central School (Melbourne)

Contributor's comments: Fanannywhacking was definitely moving the hand while firing, i.e. half-throwing. Cribbing by moving forwards from where the marble should have been was called 'finagling' -Melb. eastern suburbs, 1960s.

Contributor's comments: Also known at St Patrick's Primary School, Mentone, Vic in the 1960s as "fanudging".
